What we are doing
We’re on a mission to bring the UK's first-ever Passivhaus Hotel to the North Yorkshire village of Runswick Bay.
This means following strict design and building regulations set by The Passivhaus Trust. For this to be possible, the former Cliffemount Hotel building has been demolished, and the new hotel is being built from scratch.
Once complete, we want our success to inspire others in the hospitality trade to adopt a more sustainable approach, thus reducing the industry’s overall impact on the environment.
What will Cliffemount be?
Cliffemount is set to open in summer 2027.
Situated on the cliff tops overlooking the picturesque village of Runswick Bay, the hotel will comprise 20 sea-view rooms, each designed with inspiration from the neighbouring North Yorkshire Coast.
Cliffemount will be pet friendly and will boast a restaurant serving a variety of classic and seasonal dishes, as well as a traditional pub oozing with Runswick Bay character.
All of this coupled with its location will make Cliffemount an ideal place for both long and short coastal breaks.
